Nationals Fundraiser Idea

I am looking for a parent to investigate the New Orleans Seafood & Hamburger fundraiser many organizations have been doing. Members help wait tables and get to keep their tips to go toward something. If someone could call and get more information and see if we could do this I would appreciate it.

Our Tournament

In preparation for our tournament we are asking students to bring 1 12 pack of drinks and a bake sale type item. It can be chips since the cafeteria is not open this time. Also I need someone to let us use their ice chest for drinks for the sponsors. We will be doing things a little different this year in that we will try to use only the gym and cafeteria. This will make for a much easier clean up and allow us to not be spread so thin with help. Parents and students need to meet in my classroom for 7AM. I also need some male students to stay afterschool on Friday to help set up the gym.

Financial due dates:

Feb 9th - 50 due for state
Feb 26 - $100 due for nationals
March 22 - $50 due for state
March 28 - $100 due for nationals

Other news:

We will resume Bake Sale in March and will have two to make up for the lack of bake sales in the past few months. Life has simply been too hectic for me to plan everything :)

Feb 20th Angie Roussel will be bringing the kids to Catholic High. Permission slips went home today.

Feb 27 - Carrie Turnbull will be taking the kids to LSU. A 10 fee is charged and the kids get a t-shirt.

GREAT NATIONALS NEWS!!!!!!

The price of nationals has been drastically reduced. I petitioned the state to charter the bus so we could save money on taxes and ensure that the bus was filled better. The state has agreed to pay 3,000 of the bus and several other schools have already signed on to ride the bus. This has resulted in the new price being 1050 for nationals.

Therefore, each person will have to raise $650. With the potential breakdown as follows

Pi week usually brings in $100 per person
Spring Fest brings in $100 per person
Our tournament brings in $100 per person

In addition, I have letters typed up for plants. They must be submitted by the families that are affiliated. Students can pick those up ASAP. In the past we have secured several thousand from the plants and are hoping to repeat this.

If we win Log 1 (we are 40 points from 1st) this will bring in an addition $150 per person attending.

We will have a doughnut sale if a parent is willing to pick up the doughnuts in Feb. We will also have a lunch over Easter. I will see where we stand when I get back and will plan more fundraisers as needed. We have until July to get the full amount in. However, if by May 15th the student has the full 1050 in their account then they will not have to make the final $100 dollar payment.

We have already booked the rooms and the bus and deposits have been paid. I am also going to be asking for ideas on what the kids want to do. We will spend three days in Washington DC doing activities. Most of the activities are free so we are expecting to keep the cost of excursions down.

Also there will be a dinner over the Easter Holidays so details will be coming up soon for that. If you have any suggestions for fundraisers please let me know. We usually have a candy sale but our vendor no longer does the fundraiser candy. We do get two weeks to sell to the school. If you have an idea of what we could sell please let me know. An option is world's finest chocolate.

Last update for a while due to pregnancy

Sorry it has been so long since the blog was updated. There hasn’t been much news.

Feb 20th is Catholic High. I will be on maternity leave so Angie will be taking the kids. Sign ups will be on Monday.

Feb. 27 LSU This tournament costs $10 but includes a t-shirt. Sign ups will also be on Monday and Carrie Turnbull will most likely take the group.

Financial Issues

$50 deposit for state is due on Feb 8th

$50 for hotel rooms for state is due on March 1st. This should be given to Sarah Robert for her to log and then she will pass it on to my mom to make the hotel payment.

$100 nationals payment due on Feb 26th.

Nationals News

I would like to have a doughnut fundraiser the morning of the super bowl. However, I need a parent to pick up the doughnuts from Krispy Kreme in Metairie and bring them to the school.

I have also spoken with another large school about us sharing the bus so I can reduce the price. I will keep you updated on that. I am also seeking some sponsors to pay for our travel in full. I will also keep you updated on this.

Spring Fest and our tournament are coming up. Typically each student receives around 100 dollars for each of these fundraisers. Last year our tournament raised 150 per student. I need lots of volunteers for each event. We will be at state the Friday of Spring Fest so I will need at least two parents to volunteer to work the night or four to work and split it up. We run a dunk tank so I need parents to take money and make sure the balls are given out correctly.

I am actively seeking sponsors for different aspects of nationals. If you have any suggestions of buissinesses that might be interested in sponsoring a part of our travel or lodging please let me know so that I can approach them. I do have some letters and presentations put together for these cases. In the past we have been able to raise several thousand dollars through sponsors. With the economy slowly picking back up we are hoping to have better luck this year with the sponsors.
